Is the Pursuit of Mid Eastern Peace a Waste of Intellectual Thought?

Author: Lance Winslow

Too few people will admit that Middle Eastern peace is probably not possible and this is not to say we should try, but rather face the inevitable and the truth. There are just too many players who really do not want peace and as long as those players are still in the game there cannot be peace.

As we watch in Iraq as Arabs kill other Arabs one has to wonder if peace is ever possible there. Additionally we see in Iran that a leader has come to power the old-fashioned way; by taking an enemy to build up a team or base of supporters. Unfortunately the enemy happens to be the Western World and their influence on the Middle East and of course their oldest enemy the Jews.

In the Palestinian Territories we see an International Terrorist Organization, which has come into political power with 60% of the vote. How did they do it; simply by reverting back to a warlike mentality towards the Jews, but I submit to you that if Israel was not in the Middle East then they would be fighting each other. In Lebanon we see Hezbollah literally take over the sovereignty of the nation and frost the country into war by attacking Israel.

A glimmer of hope will be the other Middle Eastern countries, which have got beyond the hate and are moving forward with moderate views and able to deal with the rest of the world. This has prompted some people to believe that there can be peace in the Middle East. But I guarantee you it will not be in the present period and if it does ever come to pass there probably won't be very many humans alive to see it or the transition. Does that mean we should just give up trying? No, I am not suggesting that we should try only that we moderate and our expectations a little closer to reality. Please consider this in 2006.
