Newquay for a Stag Weekend? Why Not?

Author: Brett Danielson
Miles of beaches bring thousands of tourists to Newquay each year to enjoy the sand, surf and savory enjoyments of a coastal capital that knows how to throw a party. In recent years, Newquay has shed its lazy family resort image and shown the world that it knows how to get down and boogie. One of the prime spots for surfing, the vibrant seacoast town hosts events from surfing extravaganzas to an annual Battle of the Bands. It's home to rocky cliffs, sandy beaches and cozy coves, offering the perfect venue for beach barbecues, extreme action and more than a little ogling of the lovely talent that struts the sunny beaches in bikinis and briefs.

The party reputation and wide range of daytime activities has made Newquay an up and coming venue for stag weekends - the newest variant on the say goodbye to bachelorhood party. Stag weekends in Newquay offer a mix of leisure and not-so-leisurely activities that can include canyoning off the cliffs, kiteboarding at the newly opened Skypark or mountainboarding, a high-energy blend of snowboarding and skateboarding. If something more sedate is called for, Newquay stag weekends partygoers might spend the afternoon on the links at Cornwall's only 12-hole golf course, or make a day of visiting some of the odder little shops along the beach. Can you really pass up a chance to pick up a souvenir of the single life at the Curiosity Shop?

Evening rolls around and the party atmosphere really picks up the beat. Party down with the stag and his mates at Tall Trees, where three clubs under one roof guarantee that you'll find just the right blend of pulsing music and impulsing fun, or make the rounds of the other Newquay night clubs. Tuck into a spectacular meal at the Barracuda or the Chy Bar and Kitchen, then relax with a fine cigar and a game of snooker at any one of half a dozen snooker clubs.

If you've got the enviable task of planning the stag weekend for your best mate, take a look at Newquay for a never-to-be-forgotten round of parties and action.
