Appetite Suppressant - a Solution to Weight Loss

Author: Pallavi Janes

Obesity has reached epidemic proportions in the U.S. and continues to grow in size and severity. And we know that obesity leads to cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and diabetes, as well as a number of other serious health conditions which can have drastic implications. So what can we do on our end to silence the call of our ravenous, often out of control appetites and finally put an end to weight gain? By using an appetite suppressant, and finding ways to restore normal, balanced eating habits, it may be possible to lose weight as well as the stress of dieting through willpower alone, and get your life back on track.

A solution in the form of pill, known worldwide as Phentermine is now available to control overweight. Phentermine is indicated only for the short-term (few weeks) management of obesity. Tolerance to the appetite suppressant effects usually develops within a few weeks, at which time the drug will become ineffective and use should be discontinued. It is a prescription based diet pill that works as an appetite suppressant and a central nervous system stimulant.

Phentermine is one of the leading weight loss drugs, recommended for people who suffer from obesity, have an elevated body mass or need to lose more than 10 pounds. Clinical trials reported that use of Phentermine with a 1,000-calorie-a-day diet reduced weight by 26.9 lb (12.2 kg) compared to a 10.5 lb (4.8 kg) weight loss with diet only.

However one must remember that popping diet pills alone will not make you a Naomi Campbell. If diet pills are not used in conjunction with a proper weight loss program incorporating proper diet and exercise, they are not likely to be effective. Indeed some pills may even disrupt your system causing weight gain. When used under medical supervision in conjunction with a proper diet and exercise program, diet pills can be effective - at least in the short term.

Like any other drug Phentermine too is not free from side effects. Difficult breathing, severe headache, hallucinations, abnormal behavior, Insomnia, diarrhea constipation, impotence or change in sex drive are side effects likely to occur. It is imperative to be in regular contact with a physician when taking weight-reducing pills.
