Cleaning your carpet is not easy. Most that people do not know what the right way to do so is. This is because there are so many various types of carpet and so many misleading products on the market. No matter if you prefer to clean the carpet with a non chemical product or one that is store bought, the goal is to get the carpeting as clean as quickly as possible. Here are some very important carpet cleaning methods that do work and work well.

Whats Your Carpet

First of all, you need to determine what type of carpet you have. This is complicated for most. What you need to know is if the carpeting has some type of special fiber or the carpet is made from non synthetic materials that they are properly cleaned according to the manufacturers directions. You do not want these carpets to be ruined from your good intentioned cleaning methods.

How To Clean

Here is a recommended way to clean your carpet. In this method, you will use non chemical products to clean up stains.

Always start by reacting as soon as the spill hits the floor. Blot up as much of the liquid as you can. Do not scrub the carpet as this will further set the stain. Instead, simply apply pressure to the area to allow it to absorb into the terry cloth.

Next, use a mild detergent such as the type that you would use to clean your dishes. Dilute it with warm water and blot onto the stain. Then, remove with a blotting action and a clean cloth.

If this does not work, go to a hidden area of the carpet to determine if hydrogen peroxide will stain it. If not, you can use this on the stain to help remove it.

If these things do not work to clean your carpet, you will want to call in a professional to have them treat the stain. They can use more powerful chemicals on the stain to help remove problems.

When it comes to regular washing of your carpet, you can use a carpet cleaning machine that you can purchase or rent. It is also wise to call on a professional as these individuals will be able to provide you with the best type of carpet cleaning possible. Your carpet should be cleaned at least every six months, more so if you are in need of it.
