Choosing A Quality Carpeting Cleaner.

Author: James C
Is it time to have your carpet cleaned? If so, you might be wondering how you are going to choose a good company. It can be difficult especially when you consider that the market has become oversaturated with carpet cleaners. Having been in the carpet and upholstery cleaning industry for a dozen years i can give you a few pointers.

The first thing that you need to be careful of is low priced cleaners. If a price seems to good to be true it probably is. We have all seen the ads with prices ranging from $5 to $10 per room. Carpet cleaners can not stay in business offering those prices. The prices they advertise are just to get them into your home. Once there they will charge extra for everything. They will charge for basic pre-spray, they will charge for basic spotting, for pet treatments, etc. They will make it seem like you have to pay for these extras or else your carpet will be ruined. Before you know it your bill will have gone from $50 to $300 or more. Don't be fooled.

The next thing that you should look for is some kind of guarantee. They should offer to return to your home to re-clean the carpets if you are not satisfied. A good guarantee should last for 2 weeks to a month. Offering a guarantee tells you that they take pride in their work. If they do not offer a guarantee, look elsewhere.

Lastly you should consider what is included in the process. At a minimum your cleaner should include vacuuming, pre-spray and basic spotting. If they do not include these things in the price, run away. It is okay for a cleaner to charge you extra for furniture moving, protection or complicated spot cleaning (ink, red dye, etc). These things take extra time and skill and the cleaner should be compensated for them.

Do your research and you should be able to find a qualified cleaner in your area. Above all, listen to your gut instinct. If something just doesn't feel right about a cleaning company do not use them. Choose someone you feel comfortable with. You will be inviting them into your home and need to feel safe and comfortable.
